Here’s a typical path of a project
Step 1 — Conversation — Shall we?
Let’s talk about what you are looking for and what I am good at. Whether you’ve got big needs, or we decide to start with a small initial project, we’ll agree on format and length and timeline and cost. When the details are settled, I get to work.
Step 2 — Research — The Homework
This is the part where I learn everything I need to know about your company, product, customer, offer, competition. Often this includes your filling out a questionnaire, providing links and example copy. Knowing you, your market and your competition guides my choices in tone, emotions and trends, while setting you apart. With a quick introduction, I’ll take it away on any needed interviews or testimonials,
Step 3 — First Draft– The Hard Work
I’ll build a structure around the project and start to fill it in – but always framework first. The projects will vary, but your solution to their pain-point will be presented to leverage emotions and instill confidence — using just the right voice and tactic. My re-writing cycle will ensure the message is on-brand and SEO optimized.
Step 4 — Edit — The Tweakage
Usually, I’ll let it sit for a day or so before taking up my red pen. I’ll print it out and go sit somewhere quiet. And then ensure we’ve nailed it big-picture and small-detail. I’ll choose just the right words for tone and flow, check that it compels the reader to action, and finally run it past my proofreader.
Step 5 — Back to You — And Beyond
I’ll be in touch throughout the process, and hit the deadline every time. Whether my first draft is the final draft, or if we need to make a round or two of adjustments, you’ll print/publish/post your new copy and start to measure the results.
Step 6 — Next Project — Shall we?
This is the part where you, thrilled with our collaboration, decide it’s time to check a few more items off your list!
